Özgür is an astrophysicist and a sci-fi enthusiast who works with social economy actors at Needs Map Social Cooperative in Türkiye. His academic research focused on high-energy deep-space environments including the accretion in binary systems of pulsars and giant stars. As a science communicator, he has given 100+ public talks and managed public observation events. He contributed to various popular science journals and is an editor for Bilim ve Gelecek magazine. As part of his outreach endeavours, he co-founded International Science Engagement Camp, offering summer programs for young science enthusiasts.
Currently, Özgür is working as part of an ecosystem that includes IDEMA, Needs Map and Etki Venture Capital Investment Fund. His responsibilities in these firms include a wide range of areas that includes but not limited to global stakeholder relations, business development, project management as well as disaster-focused satellite data analysis, integration of AI to social studies and impact measurement.
