Etienne Turpin is a philosopher and founder of anexact office. For the past fifteen years, he has coordinated the office’s design research projects for international clients and institutional partners. With Dr. Tomas Holderness, he co-founded and co-designed CogniCity Open Source Software, an open source platform for community-led disaster response and climate adaptation. Dr. Turpin continues to support the climate adaptation teams in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Pakistan who run CogniCity OSS in his capacity as the Senior Strategist for the Climate Emergency Software Alliance. Previously, Dr. Turpin worked in the Higher Education Industry as a Research Scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Vice-Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Fellow at the SMART Infrastructure Facility, a Walter B. Sanders’ Fellow at the University of Michigan, and a Research Fellow at Nanyang Technological University’s Centre for Contemporary Art in Singapore.
